About Leon

Leon van Oeffel is a Resident Engineer at MAG45 and the living link between the production floor and the supply chain. Based full-time on-site at a leading high-tech manufacturer, he’s not just a supplier representative, he’s part of the team. From engineering tweaks to urgent sourcing needs, Leon tackles it all with one goal in mind: making sure production runs smoother, smarter, and with fewer surprises.

Leon brings over 15 years of hands-on experience in resident engineering, combining technical insight with a problem-solving mindset. He balances the priorities of engineers, procurement, and logistics, translating complex challenges into clear solutions backed by MAG45’s global supply network.

“The engineer wants the best solution, procurement wants it cheaper, and logistics wants it faster. My job is to bring those worlds together and make sure the result works for everyone.”

Outside of work, Leon enjoys spending time with his two whippets. Together with his wife, he also trains a competition horse for driving sport with a single-horse carriage. “Such training requires discipline and persistence, but also close cooperation,” he says. “I see the same in my work, I collaborate with many different parties to successfully tackle every challenge.” Leon’s motto: whatever he does, he does it with dedication and persistence. A quality valued by everyone who works with him.

Experience & background

Leon joined MAG45 in 2008 and has since played a central role in developing the company’s on-site engineering services. As a resident engineer, he is embedded within the customer’s operations, troubleshooting technical issues, sourcing smarter alternatives, designing kits based on real-world feedback, and making sure the right parts are always where they need to be.

Previously, Leon worked for over a decade as a sales advisor at Nestinox and has been active in the Dutch Army Reserve (Korps Nationale Reserve) since 2006. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Werktuigbouwkunde/Commercieel Technisch) from M.T.S.
