Successful Round Table Event on Integrated Supply

On 31st October, the sustainable Z8 boat hosted the 2018 MAG45 Round Table Event with the theme 'Value Creation in the Supply Chain and Service Triangle 4.0'. This interactive and stimulating event was by invitation only and attracted supply chain directors, procurement directors, maintenance managers, and other like-minded supply chain professionals from leading companies in the industrial sector.

The chairman of the day was Edwin Dekker, branch manager of NEVAT and program manager at FME. His introduction gave an update on the larger trends affecting industrial and technology industries.

The two keynote speakers then posed some interesting and challenging concepts around the specific area of industry supply chains. Professor Koen Vandenbempt from Antwerp University introduced the changing supply chain management landscape, emphasized the need for close partnerships, and highlighted the need to provide service as an added-value while building credibility and making the benefits concrete. Professor Henk Akkermans of Tilburg University looked at key trends such as service triads, servitization, smart services, and performance-based contracts. He also outlined crucial solutions moving forward that aim to improve performance, like work the component redesign loop, and cut the over-maintenance choke loop.

Insights raised during the round table discussions included how to address the many disruptive trends that are impacting integrated supply. Best practices and innovative supply chain concepts were shared, and it was pointed out that there is a great need for smart, innovative ways to collaborate, even between strong competitors, and to co-create with suppliers.

One of the immediate outcomes of the event is the creation of a LinkedIn Group, which will serve as a discussion platform about Integrated Supply topics for the attendees at the event.
