MAG45 acquires Global Spare Parts Lighting (GSL) activities from Philips



Philips Lighting, part of Royal Philips Electronics N.V., has decided to divest its Global Spare Parts management activities (GSL) per May 16th 2011 to Industrial Integrator MAG45 from Eindhoven (www.mag45.com). Within Philips Lighting the spare parts group is responsible for purchasing, managing and delivering technical components in support of Philips Lighting’s production facilities globally.

Spare parts activities further strengthens the MAG45 proposition
In addition to standard catalogue components the product portfolio of Philips GSL consists of custom make parts for MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) purposes. The Philips GSL organization has offices and warehouses in Roosendaal (The Netherlands), Pila (Poland) and Shanghai (China) which support the production facilities and customers around the world.

The custom make parts category is of great operational importance for both Philips and MAG45. Purchasing and managing custom make parts requires a broad supply base, in Western and Central Europe as well as in Asia. Managed by an experienced sourcing team and processes assuring product compliance, quality, competitiveness and availability.

Typically, MAG45’s customers’ MRO spend consists of around 30-40% of custom make parts. MAG45 is one of the few industrial integrators that is able to manage this part of the MRO portfolio. The acquisition of the Philips spare parts activities further strengthens this capability.

Seamless fit
MAG45 manages the complete procurement and supply chain of MRO products for its customers. MAG45 has gained a strong position in Europe and Asia, which fits well with the geographical location of Philips' production activities and the associated spare parts management activities.

As part of the transaction MAG45 will implement Integrated Supply solutions at Philips Lighting locations in Roosendaal (The Netherlands), Turnhout (Belgium), Aachen (Germany), Pabianice (Poland) and Pila (Poland). As such, MAG45 will take care of full procurement, management and delivery of technical components and MRO parts for these plants. Also including implementing systems for warehouse management, inspections and customer support mechanisms to sustain these activities.
